Fluoroscopy
Where standard X-rays provide still pictures, fluoroscopy is used to provide pictures that are projected on a TV screen. A contrast medium is given and the radiologist is able to observe the images in real time as they are projected on the screen. After the real time study, the radiologist will also take traditional x-rays that will offer greater detail to assist in making a diagnosis.
Fluoroscopic procedures include:
- Barium Swallow
- Upper GI Series
- Small Bowel Series
- Barium Enema
- Gallbladder Series
- Arthrograms
- Hysterosalpingograms
- Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP)
